The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City’s “Now Showing” program is now accepting applications

Deadline: January 18, 2013

The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City is currently seeking artists for Now Showing, a program that connects artists to local businesses for rotating 3 month exhibitions.  Companies such as American Century Investments, Burns & McDonnell, Quintiles, and TK Architects have turned their offices into galleries, providing new opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work.

To be considered, please send the Arts Council ten electronic images of your work and complete the Artist Submission form (see website) by January 18, 2013. All materials may be addressed to Please note that email attachments cannot exceed 8 MB total due to mail server limitations; artists may send multiple emails to accommodate larger size images. All artwork will be reviewed by a selection committee based on business-appropriate content, quality, and originality. The committee will select up to 20 artists in the following categories for the 2013 Now Showing portfolio: Photography, Painting, Textiles, Mixed Media, 2D Design (prints/drawings), and 3D Design. Selected artists will be notified the week of January 28th, 2013.

The 2013 Now Showing portfolio will be uploaded to a secured portion of our website so that companies can view available work. Once selected, artists will meet with the company coordinator to review the space and discuss details. Most companies easily accommodate 15-20 works of art. Because the companies have gallery-style hanging systems, we recommend that all art be equipped with a wire hanger. Please note that any resulting sales are commission free and handled directly between the artist and the buyer. At the end of the exhibition period, the Arts Council will send the artist a $125 honorarium in appreciation for being part of Now Showing.

Please contact Kelly Seward ( or Jaime Aguirre ( if you have any questions.
