Out of Town – Voicehandler with Jacob Felix Heule + Danishta Rivero; Blue Communion:ISAM with Sam Jones
Local – Llambs
Voicehandler, the duo of Jacob Felix Heule and Danishta Rivero, is an electroacoustic ensemble combining improvisation with original compositions. They perform with voice, percussion, electronics, and the Hydrophonium (an electroacoustic percussion instrument created by Rivero).
Their work, song cycle, comprises different nontraditional approaches to the song form. It explores ideas of our origins and what it means to be human, as presented in mythology and literature. Each song is based on an individual text including the Yekuana creation story, and works by Borges, Burroughs, and Hamsun. The music has been written as open scores, leaving much room for Heule and Rivero to draw on their extensive experience as improvisers.
ABOUT BLUE COMMUNION:ISAM
Inspired School of Astral Music is Sam Jones of Million Brazilians, who also played drums in a few Kansas City bands before departing for Portland a few years ago. The synth-driven solo project of Jones’ captures minimal synth explorations in the tradition of Brian Eno’s “Ambient” series, early New Age explorer’s and moments of Terry Riley’s tape loop melodies. More of a conceptual project that also features essays with each release and concentrating on deep meditation and out-of-body experiences, ISAM will surely bring the calm, float your brain and drift your body.
LLambs is a Kansas City based sound manipulator and known curmudgeon. Born in the southern Gobi of [an] Allghoi Khorkoi, Llambs was moved to North America in the early 70′s to be the houseworm/sex slave of a well known explorer and publishing magnate. Llambs’ interest in sound manipulation stems solely from the intense desire to recreate the half-remembered sounds of the tunnels of his birth.
