Novelist Margaret Atwood is promoting a new mobile app for Fanado, a website she co-founded, that connects artists to their fan base and they are crowdfunding the app with an Indiegogo campaign featuring Ms. Atwood.
From their press release:
Fanado is an online event space where artists and performers can connect with fans and aficionados, present to audiences, greet fans one-on-one, sign personalized collectibles, sell directly online, live stream and archive the event, and create personal experiences and lasting memories.
And from their site:
Fanado is where artists meet audiences. Reach beyond the press tour – whenever, wherever you want, without travel or entourage. Fanado is Anytime, AnyPlace: meet, greet and sign. Save money and earn revenue. Reward your fans and discover new ones. Fanado is live and intimate, with that “Kodak Moment” stickiness that will make it the most effective and lasting tool in your social media mix. We are looking for founding artists for our upcoming launches in sports, music, publishing, film & TV. If interested, please contact email@example.com.
While it seems the product is tailored to established artists of Atwood’s status, it is yet another example of the scramble to connect artists to their market and develop a level of engagement only possible in the digital realm.
