Wednesday December 9 was the culmination of the second Artist INC Advance. The finale event took place at the American Institute of Architects in Kansas City. Catered by Howard’s and set among a crowd of 130 people, 12 artists delivered 5 minute, project specific presentations vying for a $1,000 cash award determined by the audience vote. These artists have worked diligently over the past 8 weeks developing strategic plans, project management skills, project budgets, marketing plans and refining their proposal writing skills. Their projects range from a posthumous documentary film about artist Doug Schweitert by Lisa Marie Evans, to a Cuban musical ensemble, Cubanism by Michael McClintock. Three awards totaling $1,000 each were announced at the event.
- Peer Review Project Proposal $1,000 Award, Trilla Ray Carter, Between Silence and Light, a 3-Concert Series
- Blind Panel Review Project Proposal $1,000 Award, Casey Whittier, Palm Petals, A Community Garden
- Audience Choice Presentation $1,000 Award, Emily Evans Sloan, The Trailer of Truth
